Beth and Jason Cooper brought over their beautiful new daughter, Carissa, little sister to the lovely and lively Maleah, who I photographed when she was brand new. Happy days. Congratulations to the Cooper Family!

Cali is the daughter of Valerie and Jeff Bunting, favorite clients who I first met shooting their engagement session, then wedding. It is great fun to see kids of clients growing up. Here’s Cali, for her first Christmas pics and now, all ready for Easter, complete with blonde, naturally curly hair!

And I loved this kid kiss moment.

And a picture of Jeff and Valerie from their engagement session.

With the arrival of spring, my shooting season has officially started. Years past, I’m ashamed to admit, I’ve not found this the most beautiful time for our area. But, like so many other things, I’ve found that with a slight change of perspective, everything looks different. In my case, I needed to look up. The leaves may not be on the trees, but the sky is beautiful. And the dry grasses may be battered and faded, but they still have potential. It’s all a matter of how you look at things. And how you light them.
Last week, I had the great pleasure to work with two beautiful Clay City seniors, Kelsea and Victoria. We shot in studio during their sessions and then we ventured outside. Here are a couple of my favorite images both from the same location, different days.

With the big snow due in tonight, I thought I should post a couple of pics of Grant in his snow hat. He looks like a Gap baby to me. Such a doll!

I just got home from the 2009 SPA Event in Vegas. SPA stands for Senior Portrait Artists, and let me just say that these people rock. Part of the event included going around to see different shooters setups and to shoot some images with different lighting styles, etc. using SPA models who are highschool seniors.
I loved the lighting setup on Sean’s image on the right and hope to incorporate it this year. And Whitney, on the left, as a dancer modelled beautifully.
Overall, I got to see a range of shooting styles that I love, and it was fun to be around other photographers who are not willing to settle for boring. It is going to be a great and very fun year for area seniors. I can’t wait! Watch for details on my 2010 model search which I will be launching very soon on Facebook.

Ciera came out to do a bridal session this fall. It was refreshing to shoot bridal portraits in a relaxed setting without the tight timeline of a wedding day. Next year I will be offering bridal sessions. These can be before or after the wedding. Below are some of Ciera’s favorites along with some of my favorites. Thanks, Ciera, for doing such a great job!

I went to school with Gena and we do business with David, so it was fun to spend some time with them. David had us all laughing most of the time, which distracted us from the cold weather. I loved the story David told that when he met Gena, she was working at McDonald’s, so in order to see her he would go to the drive-up window and buy a medium sprite which he didn’t drink. He did this about a dozen times a day. He said he finally had to get up the nerve to ask her out on a date because he realized was not going to have any money left to take her out on a date if he kept spending $84 a week at the McDonald’s drive-up window on Sprite he didn’t drink. I think he made the right choice, and I’m glad Gena gave him a chance. Lol.

Chassidy is a lovely highschool senior from Clay City. I couldn’t decide which of these images I liked better so decided to put both up.

I’m behind on the blog, so have several images to post over the next few days. Here is one I did of Ada and Zoe with a campfire setup, which will probably make it’s way into our Christmas card design this year. I wanted something that looked a bit like a storybook illustration. Nita was a big help on the campfire set. Thanks, Nita! And I got the campfire idea originally from friend Sam. Thanks, Sam!

Well, we’re back from Thanksgiving and I’m working up sessions. Here is a pic of some of my favorite shoes ever from the Wolfe family’s session.
